ARTIST STATEMENT

What is an artist statement? several sentences expressing ones creativity of what motivates them. There are things that can’t be expressed with words, for such things there is visual art, so what you see is what it is. I prefer not to title or describe my images, as not to force my comprehension of a picture or push philosophical opinion about it on a viewer. The viewer is absolutely free to interpret or translate my artwork contents the way that is close only to them. My view or existence shouldn’t bother them. It is actually, their job to build picture concepts based on their personal knowledge, world perception, preferences, and sensitivity. I don’t like conformity or follow the etiquette rules of art.





ARTIST BIO

I've been taking photographs for the last 20 years. I don't have a degree or had any formal training, all self-taught and still learning. I have a different take when it comes to taking photographs. I'm attracted to structures and straight lines, so why take a boring picture from across the street, when you can get up close and personal. The photographs that I produce are a representation of the way I view everyday things around me. Common subject items are viewed in a different light or extracted them from their surroundings in a way to make them more interesting or attractive. My work can be seen at NYLO Hotel Southside and at the Baylor Sammons Cancer Center. I was among several artists select as New Texas Talent XX in 2013 and New Texas Talent XXIII in 2016, a statewide juried exhibition hosted by Craighead Green Gallery. A member of the White Rock Lake Artists Studio Tour, which highlights artists who live and work in one of the most beautiful areas of East Dallas, the studio tour is the largest neighborhood Art Studio Tour, noted as a top Dallas annual art event.
